Pastor
E-mail George Haugen

George grew up in Newnan, GA., where he was part of Newnan Presbyterian Church with his family.  After high school he attended The University of Alabama where he met his lovely wife Jeanne.  Jeanne was actually the one who shared the gospel with George during his senior year.  Shortly after coming to know Jesus, George felt the call into gospel ministry.  He got involved with Campus Crusade for Christ and had his first taste of cross-cultural missions in Japan the summer of his graduation.  God used this experience to light a fire in George’s heart for missions that still burns brightly today.  George then went Fuller Theological Seminary where he received his MDiv with an emphasis in cross cultural studies.  Later he also received his DMin from Carey Theological College in Vancouver, Canada.  Jeanne and George have four children, Victoria, Charis, Michaela, and Will.

George has had a variety of opportunities to serve the Lord in the USA, Japan, DR Congo, Bolivia and the Dominican Republic. Before going to seminary, in addition to going to Japan, George served as the youth pastor in Newnan Presbyterian Church.  He and Jeanne also served as missionaries in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for two years.  During his seminary years George served as the youth pastor at Silverlake Presbyterian Church and became very involved in inner-city youth ministry in Los Angeles.  After seminary George was ordained in the PCUSA, and served for seven years as Associate Pastor of Outreach and Evangelism at Woodland Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia.  After this, the Haugens then moved to Bolivia to serve in church planting, outreach and leadership development among the Quechua people for eight years.  In 2009 the Haugens felt called to return to the USA.  At this time George accepted a call to Woodland Presbyterian Church as the Interim Pastor for two years and then for one year to work in the Dominican Republic.  His parent’s health was in decline, so the Haugens returned to Georgia and George went on staff with Frontier Fellowship.  George then accepted the call to Edgewood Presbyterian Church where he is excited to see God’s continued work to advance His Kingdom and build His Church.
